Burial Services

What's Involved in Planning a Burial Service?

Your funeral director will guide you every step of the way. Funeral services may be planned at a church or one of our chapels or at the cemetery graveside. You will need to select the details of the ceremony, select a casket and select a burial vault.

 Choosing a Casket & Vault

We have a wide selection of affordable caskets and burial vaults to choose from. We will assist you to keep the cost of your loved one's funeral service within your family's budget. The casket purchase doesn't have to cost you more than you can afford.

The type of casket you select will be based largely on personal preference. Would you prefer a casket of fine hardwood or metal? There are caskets of walnut, cherry, maple, oak, pine and other species of wood. Metal caskets come in varying thicknesses and a wide array of finishes. We don't want you to guess what's best for your situation; instead we'd like you to turn to us for assistance. We've got the experience to guide you in the selection of the most appropriate casket and vault for your needs. Call us, or stop by our office.

The purpose of the vault is to keep the ground from sinking after burial. Vaults may be made of concrete or metal and may be personalized in a  lot of different ways. We offer single wall, double wall and triple wall burial vaults for your peace of mind.

Planning the Details of the Graveside Service

If simplicity is your primary focus, then the you might consider the simplicity of a Graveside Service only. With this selection, there is no church or chapel ceremony as everything is done at the grave site, usually under a tent at the cemetery. You may still have music, a dove release, a bagpiper and a chaplain or clergy officiate. After the graveside service, the officiant can then have a committal or benediction.

You might want to honor a veteran by having an Honor Guard, using the flag on the casket and having the military or Veterans unit fold and present, fire a 21 gun salute and play taps. This is a moving and respectful part of any ceremony. We encourage  the placing of your right hand over your heart during the playing of taps.

We'll discuss who you would like to lead the event; it could be your funeral director, a member of the clergy, a celebrant, family member, or close friend. Certainly, the selection of the cemetery and burial plot are practical decisions; but planning the service format is where the heart can take over. Your funeral director will assist you for as long as it takes to bring love and memories into the event. He or she will explore your loved one's life with you to find the essence of who they were, all in the effort to craft a fitting graveside service.
