If simplicity is your primary focus, then the you might consider the simplicity of a Graveside Service only. With this selection, there is no church or chapel ceremony as everything is done at the grave site, usually under a tent at the cemetery. You may still have music, a dove release, a bagpiper and a chaplain or clergy officiate. After the graveside service, the officiant can then have a committal or benediction.
You might want to honor a veteran by having an Honor Guard, using the flag on the casket and having the military or Veterans unit fold and present, fire a 21 gun salute and play taps. This is a moving and respectful part of any ceremony. We encourage the placing of your right hand over your heart during the playing of taps.
We'll discuss who you would like to lead the event; it could be your funeral director, a member of the clergy, a celebrant, family member, or close friend. Certainly, the selection of the cemetery and burial plot are practical decisions; but planning the service format is where the heart can take over. Your funeral director will assist you for as long as it takes to bring love and memories into the event. He or she will explore your loved one's life with you to find the essence of who they were, all in the effort to craft a fitting graveside service.
