Clyde Wehunt Jr.

1951 - 2021


Clyde Wehunt Jr. 69, of Cherryville died Sunday, April 4, 2021 at his residence. Born November 6, 1951 he was the son of Clyde Wehunt Sr. and Julia Wehunt.

Clyde retired from NCDOT Lincoln Co. in 2008. 

He is survived by his wife of 21 years Ruby Wehunt. a step-daughter Amy Auten Smith (Mark) and step-son Kevin Auten (Suzanne).
Four step grandchildren and four great-step grandchildren. A sister Patsy Peeler, Brother Raymond Wehunt (Cindy). A sister and brother in law Kay and Gene Hice and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents Clyde and Julia Wehunt and a brother-in-law Harry Peeler.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Lincoln County.

To honor Clyde' life memorials may be made to Hospice and Pallative Care of Lincoln County 900 Donita Dr. Lincolnton, NC 28092.

I am so very saddened to hear of Tack-Hammer's passing. He played an important part of my childhood and teenage years as an assistant softball coach. He was such fun and one could feel the dedication he had for supporting the team and young athlete's he supported.  May he rest in peace.  ❤️
