Roger Kale

May 10, 1942 — September 28, 2025

William Roger Kale, 83, of Connelly Springs, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025, at his home. He was born on May 10, 1942 in Caldwell County, North Carolina.

Roger was a man of many talents and passions. Known as a jack of all trades, he loved to fix things and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Storytelling came naturally to him, and his family fondly remembers his humor and wisdom. Affectionately nicknamed “Mountain Man” and “Big-un,” Roger was deeply devoted to his family and cherished spending time with them.

In December 2012, Roger gave his life to Christ. His faith became the cornerstone of his life, and he loved his church family at Gateway Baptist Church, where he built large crosses to share his devotion. He retired from Duke Power after 40 years and three days of dedicated service. Roger was also a talented artist who enjoyed drawing and sharing his artwork as gifts.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Robin Brittain Kale; three children, Roger Scott Kale and wife Jenny, Rosalyn Kale Hart and husband Scott, and Robert William Kale and wife Jessica; sister, Evelyn Kale Pritchard and husband Harold; sister in law, Janis Brittain Orinson; grandchildren, Derek Kale, Logan Kale, Addie Hart, Paisley Hart, Tucker Hart, Luke Kale, and Ellie Kale; great grandchildren Cody and Cayden Kale; best friend, Danny Chapman; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Oren Lawson Kale and Sarah Kale; sisters, Ruth Crouse and Jo Neal Houser; and granddaughter, Emma Hart.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Gateway Baptist Church, 3105 Sandy Ford Rd, Newton, NC 28658, with Pastor Jerome Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Church of Catawba. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Gateway Baptist Church.
