William Powell Crooks

William Powell Crooks, 82, of Hickory passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born, November 15th, 1943 he was the son of the late Nowlin T. Crooks and Nettie Crooks.

He is survived by his significant other of many years, Karen Tucker; his daughter, Angela Boggs; his step-children, Randy Isenhour, and Michael Blevins and his wife, Joy; his former spouse, with whom he shared a lasting friendship, Ellen Crooks; his sisters, Jean Pitts, and Beverly Vanhuss; his brothers, Nowlin Crooks "Junior", and Arland Crooks; his grandchildren, Breanna Boggs and Nowlin Crooks; his step-grandchildren, Paige, Mason, Jayden, and Carson; and his great-grandchildren Grant, Chance, and Reagan.

In addition to his parents, Nowlin T. Crooks and Nettie Crooks, he is preceded in death by his son, Nowlin "Bud" Crooks; his brothers, Robert Crooks, and Lloyd "Root" Crooks; and his son in law, Jerry Boggs.

Powell loved playing the guitar, tending to his garden, and he had a special place in his heart for animals, children, and spending time with the elderly.

The family will receive friends from 12:30p.m.-1:30p.m. Tuesday December 2, 2025 at Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center. The Funeral Service will be at 1:30p.m. in Jenkins Funeral , the burial will follow at Brookford Cemetery in Hickory NC.
