Wanda Elaine (Wilson) Johnson

August 10, 1955 — January 14, 2026

Wanda Elaine (Wilson) Johnson, loving mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, died on Tuesday, January 14th 2026.

Wanda was born on August 10, 1955 to Ray and Maggie (Brittain) Wilson of Hildebran. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jimmy Wilson. Left to honor her memory are her husband, Larry Johnson, son Travis (Shannon) Evans, daughter Stacey (Walter) Fuldner, siblings Edna Mae Hopper, Donna Newton, Dean Wilson, and Roger (Kathy) Wilson, and her beloved grandchildren Lucy, Parker, Henry, Hazel, Everett, and Georgia.

Wanda graduated from Hildebran High School in 1973 with the homecoming crown and several treasured lifelong friendships. Wanda will be remembered for her boundless energy, generosity of spirit, and true love of people. She thrived in her work with Catawba County Schools where “Ms. Wanda” poured her heart into caring for elementary school children. She later spent years with Manpower where her genuine care for people shone in finding work for those in her community. She served in many roles during her years as a member of Startown Baptist Church and later with Tri City Baptist Church. Wanda loved the Lord, her family, sunflowers, yard sales, walks outside, spontaneous adventures, and meeting new people. Mostly, Wanda loved. She radiated joy and honored everyone she met with her kind and loving spirit.

Wanda’s life will be remembered on Sunday, January 18th at Jenkins Funeral Home with the receiving of friends at 2pm followed by a service at 3pm.

The family asks that to celebrate the love she shared, friends should honor Wanda’s memory with acts of kindness.
