Timothy Gray Childers

Timothy Gray Childers, 56, of Newton, passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at his home. He was born June 27, 1969, in Lincoln County, North Carolina.

Tim had a deep love for racing at Hickory Motor Speedway and Tri-County Speedway, competing in various divisions and taking great pride in his racing heritage. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on cars. Tim spent his career as an automotive technician.

He is survived by his father, Gray Childers; his sister, Amy Martin, and her husband, Wesley; his nephew, Zac Martin; his beloved dog, Jenny; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorene Duncan Childers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, in the Chapel at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
