Shelby John Combs, 52, of Hickory passed away Friday, August 15, 2025 in his home after a period of declining health. Born, August 6th, 1973 he was the son of Lawrence Combs and Daisy Ann Combs. He was a member of Fresh Oil Ministries Church in Newton.

Shelby was known for his cutting up and great sense of humor. His famous line, as he pointed towards your feet was "You dropped your pocket" and no matter how many times he had gotten you before you would still fall for it. Shelby was a great handyman always fixing things. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his mother Daisy (Danny Scott) and his loving wife of 16 years, Jessica Combs; his three daughters: Jennifer Cernuto-Scarbro, Shelby(Little Shelby) Combs Mitchem (husband Tyler), and Kaylee Ann Combs; his four grandchildren: Jayden Cernuto, Bailey Scarbro, Carleigh Scarbro, & Ryleigh Mitchem; his two brothers, Lawrence Combs (Boogie) & Sean Combs (wife Nancy); his many loved nephews, nieces and his dog Bailey.

In addition to his father, Lawrence Combs, he is preceded in death by his brother Brett (Doodle) Combs.

The family will receive friends 1p.m.-2p.m., Friday August 29, 2025 in Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center. The Funeral Service will follow at 2.p.m. in Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor David Pettry and Reverend Michael Whittington.
