Sharon Childers Watson

Sharon Childers Watson, 87, of Hickory, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at her home. Born June 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Harry Dane Childers and Edith Whitener Childers.

Sharon was a lifelong and devoted member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, where her faith and presence were a steady part of the community for many years. She worked as a church secretary for West Hickory Baptist Church for 28 years. Sharon had a deep appreciation for the arts and found great joy in drawing, painting, and reading.

She is survived by her daughters, Karoline Watson and Kathy Watson; her brother, Farrell Childers; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with inurnment in the church cemetery (2613 Wesley Chapel Rd., Newton, NC 28658).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church or Carolina Caring Hospice.
