Sarah Mae Bonds

Sarah Mae Bonds, 73, of Hickory, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026.

Born September 29, 1952, in Blacksburg, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Bonds Sr. and Virginia Lee Bonds.

Sarah was a woman of deep faith who loved God and her church. Her faith guided her life, and helping others was central to who she was. God was always first in her life, and she cherished her church family dearly.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Margaret Pounds and spouse Rodney; her son, Marshall Tipps; her brothers, Landis Bonds, William Bonds, and Jerry Bonds; her sisters, Bessie Bonds and Pearly Bonds; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother.

A Homegoing Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Chapel at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center.
