Salvadore Joseph Tedesco, age 95 of Hickory, North Carolina, passed away in his home Saturday, September 6th, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Sal was born on July 29, 1930, in Watervliet, New York. Following his high school graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1948 and went on to serve in the Korean War. He reached the rank of sergeant major. After his active service, Sal continued his commitment to his country by serving in the California National Guard.
After a career in sales, Sal retired and continued to live a full and dynamic life. He served as a commander for the Veterans of Foreign War for five years; volunteered for various charities and was an active member of the Catholic Church. He loved to travel and possessed a youthful spirit that made him seem younger than his years.
Sal was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Gail Stewart Tedesco, with whom he built a beautiful life and family and his sister Concetta Pitcher.
He is survived by his three children, Debra Tedesco Baumbach (George), David J. Tedesco and Maria Tedesco Bost (Larry); his four grandchildren, Michael Parker (Jolie), David Baumbach (Kseniya), Tommy Bost (Teresa) and Joe Bost (Caroline), along with seven great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dear sister Clementine Cronin; his brother-in-law, Robert Stewart (Sue) and Douglas Stewart and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Sal will be remembered for his zest for life, sense of humor and generous spirit. He will be dearly missed.
