Roger Dale Miller (Road Dog, RD)

Jun 22, 1954 — Aug 7, 2026

Road Dog carried a battered body, but he kept the rebellious spirit of a teenager, always living on the wild side of life. Through his 72 years, he clearly had favor with the Lord. Anyone who knew him understood that. His life was filled with good and bad, just like most, but the stories he left behind were anything but ordinary.

From Jackson Training School and prison escapes to jumping trains, running a car under a train, jumping through fans, and falling down banks, he shared countless stories of adventure. He would offer a helping hand, paint things unexpected colors, or move things around just to see if you noticed the changes.

He helped take care of his parents and always kept you wondering what he would do next. Over the years, as his health declined, his stubbornness created barriers, but he kept pushing on in true RD style. “Whoa, mule”—the journey ends here, with everything you brought with you. He redefined what it meant to tear up an anvil with a rubber hammer.

He is survived by his sister, Deborah Louise Miller Sanders.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, James David Miller Jr., and Diane Lynn Miller Penley.

A private service will be held at a later date.
