Roger Norman Dewhurst, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, in Huntersville, North Carolina.
Roger was born on February 3, 1936, in Georgetown, Ontario, Canada, to Frank Dewhurst and Verna Barker Dewhurst. He spent his early years on his family’s farm in Georgetown before moving with them to another farm in Milton, Ontario, and later to a restaurant in downtown Milton, where the family continued building their life together.
In the spring of 1954, Roger joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He completed his basic training in St. John, Quebec, and went on to train in aircraft maintenance at Camp Borden, Ontario. He was later stationed at RCAF Station North Bay, serving with dedication until his release in 1957.
Following his military service, Roger briefly worked at AVRO in Malton, Ontario, contributing to the manufacturing of the CF-105 Avro Arrow, an ambitious and historic Canadian aircraft project.
Roger relocated to the United States with his family, first to Jacksonville Florida and later to Charlotte, North Carolina where he built the life he would carry forward for many years. He later partnered with his father, Frank, and his brother, Larry, to establish Three D. Corporation, continuing his lifelong work ethic and commitment to family enterprise.
Roger was known for his deep faith, his gentle spirit, and his creative soul. He had a love for photography and creative writing, and he saw the world with a thoughtful and observant eye. He lived many years in Newton, North Carolina, where he was known as a man of quiet strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to God.
Roger was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth N. Dewhurst (June 8, 1982); his second wife, Peggy L. Dewhurst (March 8, 2017); his sister, Beverley Ratcliff; and his brother, Lawrence (“Larry”) Dewhurst.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Jerry Ratcliff; sister-in-law, Joyce Dewhurst; nieces, Leighann Walters and Lauri Dewhurst-Summers; and nephew, Brad Dewhurst.
Roger will be remembered for his faith, his creativity, and the steady, thoughtful presence he brought to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and quiet inspiration.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
