Paul Anthony McGuigan Sr.

Paul Anthony McGuigan Sr., 65, of Conover, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. He was born on December 29, 1960, and was the son of the late James and Virgie McGuigan. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Paul eventually made his home in North Carolina.

Paul was a plumber by trade, but his talents went far beyond plumbing. There was very little he couldn't build, repair, or figure out how to fix. He was the kind of person who could get his hands on just about anything and find a way to make it work.

Paul was a no-nonsense, straight-shooting man who lived life on his own terms. He never hesitated to speak his mind, stand his ground, or tell you exactly what he thought. He enjoyed classic cars and trucks, motorcycles, and spending time rocking on the front porch. He had a special place in his heart for animals and shared his home with many furry friends throughout the years. He especially enjoyed time with his family and never turned down an opportunity to sit down and enjoy a bushel of Maryland crabs with the people he loved.

Paul was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his strong-willed nature, his ability to fix just about anything, his love of family, and the many memories he created throughout his life.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Paul McGuigan Jr., Andrew Gerst, Gina Ramirez, and Katherine Kissell; his siblings, Mary Poslyszny, Edith Bolling, Pauline McGuigan, and the late Shirley Forewood; his nine grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Paul will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, siblings, and the many lives he touched throughout his life.

At the family's request, a private burial will be held at a later date.
