Patsy Alice (Marlowe) Rosenstein of Newton, NC died valiantly Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born June 21, 1943 she was the daughter of her late beloved mother Alice Mozelle (Sims) Marlowe and treasured father Earl Pinkney Marlowe. Her adoring children Michael Newton and Alison Newton survive her along with her brother Bob Marlowe and wife Gaye, nephew Justin Marlowe and wife Carrie, longtime companion Charles Abernethy, many cherished, loving cousins and her adoring dogs Evi and Toby who miss her sweet nurturing, loving ways as will all who ever got to know Patsy.
A lifelong entrepreneur and business woman, Patsy was Co-Founder and Admissions Director of Anew Vision Academy of Newton for 15 years, was a Mediator for the Conflict Resolution Center, 36th Judicial District of North Carolina, Regional Sales Director for airline training schools Southeastern Academy and Weaver Airline Personnel School. Her experiences included owning an International Swimwear Import company, a Caribbean Sportswear Boutique, a Tanning Salon, and work as a Law Firm Consultant, Photographer’s Assistant and Model.
Patsy supported many philanthropies and churches. Among her favorites was the
Crossnore Baptist Church - Communities for Children Orphanage. A devoted volunteer, she worked with various organizations including Meals on Wheels, Potter’s Ranch in Kentucky and the CARE Team for the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
Growing up in Newton, Patsy was very active, athletically, musically and artistically. She played high school basketball, clarinet and was Drum Majorette, sang in choir, danced in ballet and tap, participated in various pageants and became a beautiful piano player, which she continued to enjoy throughout her life. Among her gifts was an ability to connect with people, make them feel seen, heard and special. Patsy created many treasured deep friendships that are eternal.
Among Patsy’s great pleasures was spending time in Myrtle Beach and the mountains in Linville where she particularly enjoyed the Senior Center and participating in various crafts. Throughout her life she loved doing puzzles of all kinds especially sudoku in recent years, playing cards, board games and cheering on her Carolina Panthers. Always a voracious reader, Patsy consumed newspapers, magazines of all kinds, fiction, biographies, history, faith-based materials and her astounding cook-book collection. Patsy once said that she enjoyed reading recipes so much that she could readily imagine tasting the prepared dish and didn’t always need to make it.
Her incredible journey took her to many places but she always loved her little town which ultimately brought her home to Newton for the last twenty-eight years. Always a devoted Mother, providing incredible support and love, her joyful outlook, sense of humor, devotion to others and relationship with her Heavenly Father embody the essence of her incredible life.
A Procession will depart from Jenkins Funeral Home of Newton at 1:00 pm, with the Graveside Service to be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 13, 2025 at Catawba Memorial Park 3060 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602. Following the Service a Reception and Meal will be served at Jenkins Funeral Home.
