Neil Chris Adams Jr.

Neil C. Adams, Jr., age 79, passed away on August 21, 2026. Born on June 20, 1947, Neil lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, faith, and friendship.

Neil was known as a great listener and a loyal friend. He was always willing to help anyone in need without expecting anything in return. He had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went and maintained those friendships faithfully through visits, phone calls, and acts of kindness. He was the kind of person you could call in the middle of the night for help, and he would be there without hesitation.

A man of many interests and talents, Neil loved singing and was often heard humming a favorite tune. He appreciated a good bass line and found joy in music throughout his life. He was passionate about sword fighting, martial arts, wrestling, bridge, and Philadelphia sports teams. An accomplished chess player, he was a master of the game, yet he took greater pleasure in teaching others than in winning.

Neil had a special gift for seeing beauty, both in people and in the world around him. He often took photographs of sunsets, flowers, and simple moments that caught his eye, simply because he found them beautiful.

Those who knew Neil also knew his thoughtfulness. He loved giving gifts and took pride in choosing them personally. Rather than ordering something online, he preferred to visit stores himself, often finding himself talking with a stranger in a mall line on Christmas Eve, carefully selecting just the right gift for someone he loved.

Above all, Neil was a man of faith. He placed his trust in Jesus Christ and shared that faith with those he loved. He did so consistently, gently, and respectfully, motivated by his sincere desire to one day be reunited with them in heaven.

Neil was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ruth Adams; his father, Neil C. Adams, Sr.; his brother, Jay Adams; and his cherished cousin and confidant, Peter Adams. He is survived by his daughters, Danielle Adams Mazzone and Randi Adams; his son-in-law and dear friend, James Mazzone, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Evangeline, Victoria, Vincent, and Kaleb. Neil shared a special bond with his nephew, Jeff Adams, whom he loved dearly, and treasured the many meaningful relationships that filled his life.

Neil will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

A memorial service will be 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Joy Baptist Church in Conover, N.C.
