Mary Ann Setzer

Mary Ann Goins Setzer, age 83, from Hickory, NC, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, October 8, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.

Mary was a passionate person who loved reading, watching movies, shopping, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and she will be missed deeply by all who knew her.

Born on June 29, 1943, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of Nell Robinson and George Robinson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, child, and sibling. Paul Clayton Setzer (husband), James Oscar Goins Jr. (son), Barbara Benfield (sister), James Dennis Robinson (brother), and Johnny Darel White (brother).

She is survived by: her sons William David Goins, Christopher Scott Goins (Debbie Goins), her daughter: Kynetha Ann Goins (Todd Watts), Grandkids: Jordon Goins (Lindsey Ball), Grant Goins, Michael Turner (Julia Turner), La’Tosha Turner (Deijon Gash), and Carson (CJ) Watts.

The family will hold a service at a later date.
