Mary Elizabeth Proffitt Norris

Mary Elizabeth Proffitt Norris, 94, of Hickory passed away Friday, April 3, 2026 at Abernethy Laurels. Born, October 16th, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Proffitt and Lillian Culver Proffitt. She attended Lenoir High School and later graduated from Cleavinger Business College. Her final employment was with Todd Vanderbloomen and Brady Attorneys at Law.

She is survived by her daughter Melonie Norris Harmon (Ken); her special niece, Karen Barlow; and her loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle J. Norris; her siblings; and her son-in-law, Rick Halsey.

A memorial service at St. John's Lutheran Church located at 1781 Taylorsville Rd SE, Lenoir, NC 28645, will be announced at a later date .
