Mary Ann Young

Mary Ann Young, 93, of Catawba passed away on April 14, 2026. Born March 24, 1933, she was the daughter of Peter and Dorothy Ostervich of Akron, Ohio.

Mary Ann shared a life full of love and adventure with her beloved late husband, Fred Young. Together, they traveled extensively, with special fondness for Scotland and Spain.

She dedicated 26 years of her career as a supervisor in natural rubber production with Goodrich and Michelin. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of Cole Memorial United Methodist Church and later Oak Grove United Methodist Church, where she remained active for over 20 years. She was a recent member of Center Methodist Church Of Catawba. Volunteering was an important part of her life, she rarely, if ever, turned down an opportunity to help others.

Mary Ann was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She was a great mother to her five children, each of whom held a special place in her heart: Terry Cole (Larry), Robert Jones Jr. (Brenda), David Jones (Stacy), Marianne Eberle (Dale), and Richard Jones, who preceded her in death. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The Memorial Service will be 2pm, Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Center Methodist Church located at 4945 Sherrills Ford Rd. Catawba, NC 28609.
