Louise Grace Thomas Weeks

April 2, 1941 — May 26, 2025

Louise Grace Thomas Weeks, 84, of Rutherfordton, NC passed away Monday, May 26th, 2025, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Born, April 2nd, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Cloyd D. Thomas and Pearl Thomas.

She met the love of her life, Spencer Weeks, when she was a contestant in a beauty pageant, a moment that marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership. A dedicated registered nurse, she devoted 50 years to caring for others with compassion and grace. A true country girl at heart, she carried the spirit of the mountains with her wherever she went. She was a faithful member of Brittain Presbyterian Church, where her warmth and presence will be dearly missed. She had a gift for singing, a sharp sense of humor, and a laugh that could light up any room. She loved reading, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles. Louise was a true spitfire with no filter, she loved to joke and, above all, cherished her family deeply.

Family meant everything to her, both spending time with her immediate family and reconnecting with her family in the mountains of Spruce Pine. She was born into a musically gifted family, where singing was a cherished tradition and the sounds of various instruments filled the air. Growing up, music was not just a pastime, it was the heartbeat of her home. Whether belting out a song or enjoying the melodies created by her loved ones, the joy of music was something she carried with her throughout her life. Her daughters will always remember the rich, delicious fudge she made, a treat unlike any other, filled with the love and care only she could put into it. Her cooking skills were matched only by her ability to make every meal a special occasion, where family gathered and memories were made. She will be remembered not just for the love she gave, but for the laughter, joy, and light she brought into every moment.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Sherry Weeks Suttle of Rutherfordton, NC, and Jenny Yelton and her husband, Wesley of Rutherfordton, NC; her brother, Danny Thomas and his wife, Judy of Spruce Pine; her grandchildren, Dylan Suttle of Forest City, NC, Meagan Yelton of Cary, NC, Sarah Yelton of Rutherfordton, NC, Laura Weyrich and her husband Scott of Rutherfordton, NC, and Wyatt Yelton of Rutherfordton, NC; and her great-grandchildren, Shia Manelski, Ada Weyrich, Wilder Weyrich, and Violet Manelski.

In addition to her parents, Cloyd D. Thomas and Pearl Thomas, she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Spencer Adam Weeks; her son-in-law, Kenneth Ray Suttle; Jack Thomas, Bill Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Jim Thomas, Lucille Thomas Howell, Merle Thomas Wilson and Virginia Thomas Byrd.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, at Brittain Presbyterian Church, located at 3456 US-64, Rutherfordton, NC 28139. A funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Michael Floyd officiating, with a graveside committal to follow.
