Anna Louise Shuford Little, affectionately known as Louise, was born and raised in Catawba County, where she became a cherished pillar of her community. A graduate of Central High School, Louise was known for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith. She married the love of her life, Jerry Little, in 1961, and together they built a life centered around family, service, and devotion. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Shuford Sr. and Nellie Shuford, and her siblings George Shuford Jr., Jacob C. Shuford, Robert L. Shuford, and Willie Mae Shuford.
Louise found joy in simple pleasures—cooking, shopping, and working in the church. She was also a talented caterer, known throughout the community for her delicious meals. Her chicken and dumplings, savory chicken pies, “Weezy bread,” and homemade-from-scratch cakes became family treasures and a reflection of the love she poured into every dish.
Her spiritual commitment was evident through her role as a Deaconess at Coulter’s Grove AME Zion Church and her participation in the Gospel Choir. Her life was a reflection of grace and resilience, always guided by love and purpose.
Louise leaves behind a legacy of love through her husband, Jerry Little, and their children: Ronald E. Little, Krisina D. L. Jones, and Kimberly R. Little- McClary. Her grandchildren—Jerrick A. Little, Jasmeia Nelson, Tekybrien I. Little-McClary, Tekiah S. McClary, Emerald D. Little, and Zion O. Little— will forever carry her spirit forward. She is also survived by her brother, William Shuford, five great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends who will continue to honor her memory.
Louise’s life was demonstrated with peace, love, humility, and grace. Though she has departed this earthly life, her legacy will continue in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
