Kathy Curtis

Kathy Ann Curtis, 71, of Hickory, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was born on February 28, 1954, in Valdese, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Harry Waldo Curtis and the late Annie Lucille Craig Curtis.

Kathy loved reading mystery novels, especially those by John Grisham and James Patterson. She had a special fondness for animals, particularly her beloved dog, Bailey. A fan of 1960s muscle cars, she also enjoyed sunbathing in the backyard during her younger years. Some of her fondest memories included spending time with her friends at The Rebel, playing Bingo with her friends at PACE and cherished moments with her grandmother, Maw Craig.

Family was everything to Kathy. She loved Sunday dinners at her mother’s house and treasured time spent with her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Mandy Lowman of Hickory; siblings, Mike Curtis and wife Jill of Hickory, Becky Justice and husband Rick of Rhodhiss, and Gary Curtis and wife Sherry of Rutherfordton; aunt, Georgia McDaris of Granite Falls; uncle, Clarence Curtis of Lenior;grandchildren, Jessica Lowman and husband Aaron Robbins of Hudson, and Tristan Lowman of Hickory; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt, Virginia Curtis; her uncle, James Craig; her son-in-law, Kris Lowman; and her grandparents.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658, with Rev. Gary Curtis officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Celebration Center at Jenkins Funeral Home.
