Jimmie Ray Stallings, 68 of Hickory died Wednesday, December 31st, 2014 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born September 17th, 1946 he was the son of the late Albert Hillard Stallings and Dovie Oris Lynn Stallings. He was previously employed by Everette Chevrolet, Dunmore Furniture and Massey Furgeson. He was a craftsman that made clocks and anything out of wood. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was mechanically inclined. He was known affectionately as Skinny Ray, Lawnmower man and Clock man. His wife of 45 years, Jeanetta Hilton Stallings of the home; two daughters, Cassie S. Canipe and husband Johnny of Hickory and Janet R. Stallings of Hickory; two step-children, Felicia Warlick of Lincolnton and Tim Adams of Hickory; a brother, Clyde Stallings of Newton; three sisters, Katie Lou S. Nance of Vale, Beulah Sue Taylor and husband Rupert; Mandy Holland and husband Gene of Bethlem; two grandchildren, Jerry Lee Price, Blaise Alexander Canipe, and three step grandchildren, Jerome Adams, Jonathon Warlick and Mitch Warlick; 10 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren survive him. Three sisters, Annie Mae Starnes, Betty Jean Everhardt and Florence Hedrick preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 4th, 2015 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Odham officiating. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion Post #48. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 pm Sunday, January 4th, 2015 at Jenkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers include Janet Stallings, Tim Adams, Joe Smith, Rick Richards, Johnny Canipe, Mitchel Warlick. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan and Dawson Warlick.
