Jeffrey Michael "Mike" Hefner

Jeffrey Michael "Mike" Hefner, 63, of Hickory, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Born on July 6, 1962, he was the son of the late Marshall and Gayle Hefner.

Mike dedicated over 30 years of his life to education as a teacher and administrator in Catawba County. He also served as a respected college basketball official for 20 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jill Whitener Hefner; his son, Chris Hefner, and daughter-in-law, Sarah Hefner; and their son, Finn. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Lynn Whitener and her spouse, Dan Lewandowski, Gae Whitener and her spouse, Michael Connolly; and his mother-in-law, Betty Whitener.

A private service will be held by the family at a later date.
