Jason Anthony Conley, age 51, of Hickory, departed this life unexpectedly on April 6, 2026. Born on December 4, 1974, in Catawba County, he was the son of the late James Conley, Sr. and Annie Bell Frederick Conley. Jason was raised in a loving home and was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church in Hickory.
Jason was a hardworking man who took great pride in helping others. He loved to see people happy and was known for his warm spirit and unforgettable hugs—so much like those of his mother. He was always there for his family, whether it was lending a hand moving furniture, offering guidance to the younger ones, or simply being someone they could count on. To many, he was not only a brother and uncle, but also a mentor and friend. He also worked security at Shooter’s Lounge in Hickory and often assisted Jennifer at Shull Family Farm.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his children: Jason Conley Jr. and Jordan Russell Conley, both of New York, and Taylor Dula of Greensboro, North Carolina. He is also lovingly remembered by his fiancée, Gabriella Figueroa of Hickory, along with Luis Brandon, Shane Stenson of Hickory, Kiara Lee of Virginia, and Shawn Brotherton of Atlanta, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by four brothers: James Conley, Jr. (Betty) of Claremont, Jonathan Conley of Florida, Joseph Conley (Tammy) of Hickory, and Jesse Conley of Hickory; and two sisters: Jenia Wylie (Kerry) of Charlotte and Julia Cannon (Briana) of Hudson, North Carolina.
Jason was a proud grandfather to Alyria, Amayah, Aaliyah, and Makenna Conley of New York, as well as Kamonie, Passion, Da’Marion, Aamirah, Gabriella, Julian, Devon, and Zhane of Hickory.
He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of extended family members, including Kenny Jr., Patrice, Reginald, Prima, Shaka, and Africa, all of Hickory. To them, “Uncle J” was more than an uncle—he was a brother, a protector, and a guiding presence. He will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ben and Mike of Shooter’s Lounge for their kindness and support during this time. May God richly bless you.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.
