James Delane Johnson II

James Delane Johnson II "Jim", 69, of Hickory died Monday, May 12, 2025 at Carolina Caring. Born in Spartanburg on April 29th, 1956, he was the son of the late James Delane Johnson and Jane Gault Johnson. He attended Spartanburg High School and Spartanburg Community College, and was the owner of Johnson Refridgeration Company. He was a lively person, and he loved making people laugh. He never met a stranger, and he always wanted to share the Gospel with those he met. He loved the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Atlanta Braves. He built the altar for and was a long time member of the St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Spartanburg, and was baptized at the Highland Baptist Church.

His mother, Jane Johnson; his partner, Leslie Frye and her daughter, Madison Melton; his brother, David Johnson and his granddaughters, Rebecca Simmons and Ava Johnson survive him.

In addition to his father, his daughter, Suzannae Lyn Johnson and his three dogs, Jackie, Ranger and Brian preceded him in death.

No services are planned at this time.
