Jacquelyn (Jackie) Lindley Cox, beloved wife, mother and grandmother has passed away. Born June 4, 1941, in Provo, Utah, Jacquelyn lived a life defined by family, friendship, and a job well-done.
Jacquelyn married James Cox, beginning a partnership that would shape the next decades of her life. She and her husband lived nearly 40 years in Wheaton, Illinois, before making their home in Terrell, North Carolina, where she had lived for 17 years.
For much of her career Jacquelyn was a familiar face at Wheaton Ace Hardware, where she worked for 17 years, serving nine years as the store manager before retiring in 1992. She completed the Advanced Course in Hardware Retailing from the National Retail Hardware Association and was an active member of the Greater Wheaton Chamber of Commerce. In retirement she enjoyed working estate sales with “Karen’s Gang,” bringing her practical skills and warm presence to the community.
Jackie’s favorite years were those raising her daughters. As a stay-at-home mom, she was active in school activities through the PTA and other volunteer efforts.
Prior to marriage and children, Jackie was an honor student and an accomplished ballet dancer.
Jacquelyn is survived by her husband, James. (Jim) Cox; daughters Carol Lynn and Kathy Cox; grandchildren Lauren Braden (Ferin) and Tyler Ferin and their spouses; great‑grandchildren Miles and Casey Braden; brothers Roger and Ron Lindley and their spouses; sisters‑in‑law Pam Field, Janet Cox, and Debbie Cox; and many nieces and nephews who will remember her kindness. She was preceded in death by brothers Mike Lindley and brothers‑in‑law Rick, Tom, and Jack Cox, and sister‑in‑law Jane Cox.
A private burial will be held at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Northlake, Illinois.
