Jackie ‘Jack” Colan Hefner, was called to his heavenly home to be with the Lord Jesus on Friday, August 8, 2025 when he died at home after several years of declining health. Born October 24th, 1938, he was the son of the late Clero and Pauline Hefner. After graduating from High School, he enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany (1955-1957). He married Barbara Hefner on April 5, 1970 and adopted sons, Jeff and Doug Hefner.
Jack worked with Huffman Metal Works as a welder and sheet metal worker for decades until his retirement. Jack was well known for his handy-man skills which he used to bless his family and others. Jack was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served as one of the assistant leaders of the Boy Scout Troop 238. Jack loved going camping at the beach with his family and friends over the years.
Surviving family members include Jack’s sons the Rev. Doug Hefner of Hickory, NC, Jeff Hefner and wife Tina Hefner, Newton, NC; grandsons Samuel Hefner and Matthew Hefner, and great granddaughter Gabriella Bare; brother Kenneth Heffner and wife Sarah of Hickory, sister Marcia, and several nieces and nephews and other family members.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife Barbara Hefner, brother James Heffner, sister Brenda Smith, daughter in law the Rev. Lori Hefner, and granddaughter Elizabeth Hefner.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 A.M Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Doug Hefner officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 A.M. in the sanctuary of the church. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran Church or the ministry of your choice.
