Jack Wilson Hohenshilt, of Lincolnton, North Carolina, passed away on December 28, 2025. He was formerly of Seaford, Delaware, and Statesville, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Ida Snyder Hohenshilt; his wife, Catherine R. Hohenshilt; his brother, Billy Hohenshilt; one stillborn child; and his sister, Peggy Hohenshilt.
Survivors include his significant other, Peggy A. Slater of Lincolnton, North Carolina; his daughters, Wendy Fama and Sheila Derezinski of Tennessee, Kandy Diemicke of Statesville, North Carolina, and Tammi Power of Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Jack attended a trade school in Ohio, where he learned welding. He was self-employed as a fabricator and was known as an excellent welder, with much of his work performed under government contracts. At the age of 40, he was declared disabled and retired. Following his retirement, he and his wife sold their home and traveled throughout the United States in a camper. When his wife’s health declined, they returned to Delaware and reestablished their home there until her passing.
