Ilie Nastase

Ilie Nastase, 74, of Hickory, passed away Monday, August 24, 2026, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. Born March 12, 1952, he was the son of Aurel Nastase and Casandra Valeria Nastase.

Ilie was a source of love and warmth to everyone that knew him. His kindness, gentleness, and undeniable faith touched the lives of many. He was a devoted father and loved his grandchildren endlessly. He was never too tired for his loved ones and was a hard worker until the very last day. His selfless spirit and dedication to his family, friends, and faith will forever be remembered.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maria Nastase; his daughters, Virginia Mladin (Mike), Sefora Cazacu (Daniel), Christina Evans (Derrick); his sons, Ben Nastase and Emanuel Nastase; and his grandchildren, Becca, Rachel, Naomi, Ethan, Ellie, Daniel, Darius (Becky), Jessica, Ruth (Aydan), Josh, Jacob, Sarah, Hannah, Matthew, Nathan, Diana, Debbie, Joseph, and June.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and daughter-in-law, Ramona.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 4, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Jenkins Funeral Home.

A committal will follow at approximately 1:30 p.m. at Brookford Cemetery, 6316 Mountain Grove Road, Hickory, NC 28602.
