Idalia Pineda

Idalia Pineda, 69, of Newton, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, surrounded by love.

Born on August 15, 1956, in Mexico, Idalia was a faithful servant of God, devoted wife, loving mother, fiercely proud grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a force to be reckoned with, strong-willed and resilient. She carried a softness that showed itself through her deep love and care for those closest to her.

Her grandchildren were the center of her world, loved as if they were her own children, and her great-grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy and light. Family was everything to Idalia, and she showed that love through her actions, protection, and devotion.

A loyal follower of her faith, Idalia was a devoted member of the Hickory Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she served wholeheartedly and lived out her beliefs through service and commitment.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Waldo Cervantes; her children, Norma Cervantes and husband Sergio Rodriguez, Dalia Vega, Ana Cervantes, Waldo Cervantes, Jr. and wife Danielle Cervantes, Deedge Cervantes and husband Jerry Sarath; her sisters, Mirtha Pineda Ortuño and Dellanira Pineda Ortuño; her grandchildren, Vanessa Weber, Selina Diaz, Victor Damian Vega, Penelope Cervantes, Jackson Cervantes, and Phoenix Cervantes; and her great-grandchildren, Francesca Diaz, Thiago Diaz, Ignatius Diaz, and Tali Diaz.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ana Maria Cervantes; her parents, Albino Pineda and Dominga Ortuño; her brother, Wblester Pineda Ortuño; and her grandsons, De’Andre Castro, Vincent Vega, and Victor Vega.

The funeral service will be held on 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Jenkins Funeral Home, located at 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658. Burial will follow at Jenkins Funeral Home Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and family from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service on January 31, 2026.

Idalia Pineda, de 69 años, residente de Newton, falleció el martes 20 de enero de 2026 en el Centro Médico Novant Health Presbyterian, rodeada de amor.

Nacida el 15 de agosto de 1956 en México, Idalia fue una fiel sierva de Dios, esposa devota, madre amorosa, abuela profundamente orgullosa y bisabuela. Fue una mujer de carácter fuerte y resiliente, una verdadera fuerza de la naturaleza. Al mismo tiempo, poseía una ternura que se reflejaba en el profundo amor y cuidado que brindaba a quienes más amaba.

Sus nietos eran el centro de su mundo; los amó como si fueran sus propios hijos, y sus bisnietos le regalaron una alegría y una luz inconmensurables. La familia lo era todo para Idalia, y demostraba ese amor a través de sus acciones, su protección y su entrega incondicional.

Fiel a su fe, Idalia fue miembro devota de la Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día Hispana de Hickory, donde sirvió con todo su corazón y vivió sus creencias a través del servicio y el compromiso.

Le sobreviven su esposo de 56 años, Waldo Cervantes; sus hijos, Norma Cervantes y su esposo Sergio Rodríguez, Dalia Vega, Ana Cervantes, Waldo Cervantes, Jr. y su esposa Danielle Cervantes, Deedge Cervantes y su esposo Jerry Sarath; sus hermanas, Mirtha Pineda Ortuño y Dellanira Pineda Ortuño; sus nietos, Vanessa Weber, Selina Díaz, Victor Damian Vega, Penelope Cervantes, Jackson Cervantes y Phoenix Cervantes; y sus bisnietos, Francesca Díaz, Thiago Díaz, Ignatius Díaz y Tali Díaz.

Le precedieron en la muerte su hija, Ana María Cervantes; sus padres, Albino Pineda y Dominga Ortuño; su hermano, Wblester Pineda Ortuño; y sus nietos, De’Andre Castro, Vincent Vega y Victor Vega.

El servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo a las 2:00 p.m. el sábado 31 de enero de 2026, en Jenkins Funeral Home, ubicado en 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658. El sepelio se realizará posteriormente en el cementerio de Jenkins Funeral Home.

La familia recibirá a amigos y familiares de 1:00 p.m. a 2:00 p.m., antes del servicio, el 31 de enero de 2026.
