Helen Flowers

March 17, 1947 — November 7, 2023

Helen Blanche Flowers, age 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 7th, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center after a short battle with Covid. She is preceded in death by her parents James and Cleo Flowers, brothers Odell Flowers and Charlie Flowers, her sister Mary Summers, sons Roderic Steele and Anthony Steele, and grandson Justin Steele.

Helen was born on March 17th, 1947 in Taylorsville NC. Helen never met a stranger. Her infectious smile and vibrant personality impacted all around her. For most of her working years, she worked in the hosiery manufacturing industry. Prior to her death, she worked in the dining area of Bojangles in Mountain View. She also made and sold cakes. No matter where she worked or where she went, she never hesitated to tell anyone and everyone around her about Jesus. She was never ashamed to call upon the name of Jesus or to share his love with others. She made an impact wherever she went.

Helen was a member of Hickory Foundation Bible Church where she loved worshiping the Lord with her church family. She would never hesitate to tell everyone how good the Lord had been to her throughout her life.

Helen was a giver and would give you the shirt off her back. She recognized the gift that Christ had given her, and she wanted to share that love with her friends, neighbors, and even strangers. She truly embodied Matthew 22:39 which states that “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

Helen is survived by former husband and good friend James Gaither of Hickory; daughters Colette Steele, Lori Steele of Mooresville, and Alicia Gaither Slaughter (Son-in-Love Michael) of Hickory; Brother, George Flowers (Patricia) of Hartford, CT; Ten Grandchildren, Canada Steele, Shamel Steele, Torie Brown, Julia Brown, Jordan Brown, Micah Slaughter, AJ Baker, Elijah Slaughter, and Ezra Slaughter; Three Great Grandchildren, Grace Gantert, Tobias Brown, and Abel Gantert; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces and friends.

She will be greatly missed
by her family, friends, and loved ones.
