Georgeta (Geanina) Florinina Marita

Georgeta (Geanina) Florinina Marita, 54, of Hickory, NC passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026. She was born on June 6, 1972, in Arad, Romania to Petru and Maria Cornelia Epure.

Geanina received Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized on June 30th, 1990, in Biserica Baptista Nr.1 Resita. She faithfully served in the children’s ministry at the church in Resita, Romania, the church in Kitchener, Canada, and most recently Hickory, North Carolina. She treasured children and left behind a beautiful legacy. Additionally, she served as the president of the Romanian Baptist Women’s Association.

She graduated from the University of Craiova with a degree in Law and practiced as an attorney in Romania. Most recently, she worked as an Enrolled Agent specializing in tax preparation. She was married to Daniel Marita in Resita, Romania, on August 1st, 1993.

She was a woman of noble character, full of wisdom, and an example to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was unshaken in her faith in every circumstance. Her life was marked by service to others, and she constantly blessed her family and friends with her sacrificial love. Throughout her battle with cancer, she did not waver in her love for the Lord and her commitment to proclaiming His goodness and faithfulness to everyone she encountered. She deeply wanted everyone to know that “Jesus saved her life.”

Geanina is survived by her mother, Maria Cornelia Epure; her husband, Daniel Marita; her children, Raul Daniel Marita, David Andrei Marita, and Naomi Gloria Marita; her grandchildren, Leo James Marita, Peter Mateo Marita, and Claudius Adriel Marita; her sister, Loredana Camelia Sumalan; and her daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Marita and Ashlee Rebecca Marita. She was preceded in death by her father, Petru Epure, and her son, Natan Angel Marita.

Geanina leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith and perseverance. She will be deeply missed by her family, church, and friends. While we grieve her passing, we hold fast to the hope that, through Christ, we will one day be reunited in the presence of our Lord.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Romanian Baptist Church, 1733 Wallace Dairy Road, Hickory, NC 28602.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC, followed by burial at Brookford Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins Funeral Home.
