Forest Donald "Don" Wyant, 90, of Hickory, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. Born October 1, 1935 at home, he was the son of the late Arney and Edith Goodnight Wyant. Don was a graduate of the last class of Banoak High School in 1953.
He proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. After service, he became a licensed general contractor building many custom homes for family, friends, and people in Vale and surrounding communities. Don was active in the Banoak Lions Club and served on the Cooksville Fire Department Board of Directors. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, duck carving and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, UNC Tar Heels, and Carolina Panthers.
A longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vale, he served on the church council and property committee for many years. He also enjoyed playing on the men's softball team with his son, Mark.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and beloved son, Mark. Also preceding him in death were his siblings and in-laws; Ann (Ralph) Young, Kate (Bill) Peeler, Farris Wyant, Dot (Bill) Ellis, Ida (Harry) Williams, Charlie (Mary Jane) Wyant, Bernice Wyant, Joe (Scottie) Wyant, John Wyant, Arney Wyant, Ray Parrish, Jerry Richardson, Bill & Edith Sisk and Billy Sisk.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Doris "Dottie" Sisk Wyant; his daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" (Walter) VanHorne; grandchildren, David (Dakota) VanHorne, Faith VanHorne (Chris); great-grandchildren, Joel and arriving shortly, Indigo & Cole; sisters, Sarah Parrish and Texie Richardson; sisters-in-law, Elaine Wyant, Patty Wyant, Dian Sisk; numerous nieces, nephews and good friends, Gary & Gail Leonhardt and Angie Bailey.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vale with Pastor Tommy Lineberger officiating. The visitation will be 12:45-1:45 P.M., and burial will follow at the church cemetery.
