Ernie Lee Buff

Ernie Lee Buff, 81, of Hickory, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Angel Medical Center. Born on August 3, 1944, he was the son of the late Buford Bennie Buff and Beddie Martha Alice Buff.

Ernie found joy and comfort in the simple things. He loved being outdoors and had a special appreciation for nature, where those who knew him best could see the peace and contentment he felt. One of his sister's fondest memories is of Ernie watching his father work on the tractor, a sight that always seemed to bring him happiness. He also shared an especially close bond with his mother, whose devoted love and care sustained him for more than forty years.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Macon Citizens Habilities (MCH). Their compassionate, around-the-clock care ensured that Ernie was never alone. They came to know him personally, treated him with dignity and kindness, and loved him as one of their own. Their devotion brought comfort not only to Ernie but also to his family, who will always be grateful for the exceptional care and friendship they shared with him.

He is survived by his loving sister, Brenda Wells, and several cherished nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Greer Buff and Carroll Buff.

The family will receive friends 10am-11am, Friday, August 7, 2026 at Jenkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11am in Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will be at Ebenezer United Methodist Church located at 8840 Cooksville Road, Vale NC 28168.
