Desola Yoder Bishop

June 23, 1939 — August 10, 2025

Desola Yoder Bishop 86 of Hickory died Sunday, August 10, 2025. Born June 23rd, 1939, she was the daughter of the late David Andrew Yoder and Margaret Louise Pitts Yoder. She was an avid cook and made sure her family ate well. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and the outdoors. She was a kind spirit and loved everyone. She taught Sunday school and retired from Sherrill Furniture Company after over 20 years of service.

Three sons, Danny Lee Bishop and wife Karen of Hickory, Randy Lee Bishop and wife Shannon of Hickory and Terry Shane Bishop and wife Elizabeth of Harrisburg, NC; and five grandchildren, Majerle B. Bishop of Hickory, Jacob A. Bishop of Harrisburg, Andrew L. Bishop of Hickory, Corbin L. Bishop of Hickory and Nicholas R. Bishop Harrisburg survive her.

In addition to her parents, her husband, David Lee Bishop, three sisters, Nancy Carroll, Mary Kahill and Gail Cranford preceded her in death.

The funeral will be 11:00am Thursday August 14, 2025 at the chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Hefner officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel United Church of Christ.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am at the Celebration Center at Jenkins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials, in memory of Desola Bishop, may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Zion Lutheran Church 1911 Zion Church Road, Hickory NC 28602.
