Christopher Shea Houser

Christopher Shea Houser, 40, of Newton, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Born October 9, 1985, in Hickory, NC, Christopher was known for his kind heart and love of animals, especially his pets and puppies. He enjoyed spending time in nature, watching movies, and trying new restaurants. Christopher had a special way of connecting with others, often sharing scripture through text messages and staying in touch with those he loved and cared about deeply.

Christopher is survived by his wife, Crystal Dawn Houser; his mother, Vickie Licata and her spouse, Joseph; his father, Steve Houser and partner, Maggie Smith; his grandmother, Doris Bumgardner; his brother, Justin Houser and partner, Donna Lane; his aunt, Carol Bumgardner; stepchildren, Jason Garvey, Brandon Garvey, and Haley Higgs; grandchildren, Nyla Lowman and Debbie Lowman; his niece, Katie Houser; his step-sister, Michelle Licata; and his step-brothers, Joey Licata and his spouse Jessica, and Michael Licata and his spouse, Pam; He will also be remembered by his loyal companion, Ande.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Jean Houser; his grandfather, Claude Bumgardner; and his beloved dog, Muffy, who was his companion for seven years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658, with Pastor Brad Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Funeral Home Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
