Charles Richard Yount

Charles Richard “Rick” Yount, 73, of Hickory, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Carolina Caring. Born December 6, 1952, in Hickory, he was the son of the late Harvey Eugene Yount and Henrietta Yount.

Rick was a preacher, pastor of Divine Grace Church, and a gospel singer who loved serving his community through ministry and music.

Rick is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ella Yount; his sister, Glenda Wallace; his sons, Bill Presley and Shane Yount; and 40 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Lynn Pressley; his son, Charles Richard Yount, Jr.; and his brothers, Howard and Ronnie Yount.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Faith Tabernacle Church, 1429 14th Ave. NE, Hickory, NC, with Pastor Noah Wright and Pastor Roger Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.
