Charles Nelson Weaver

Charles Nelson Weaver, 82 of Hickory, North Carolina, passed away July 22, 2026. He was born on January 20, 1944, in Catawba County.

He was a professional chimney sweep before changing careers later in life to become an ordained Lutheran minister. He was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College and Trinity Seminary in Columbus OH. He served as a pastor in Florida for several years before returning to the Hickory area. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Bert Weaver; his mother, Mary Herman Weaver; and his sister, Janice Weaver Jones.Nelson is survived by brother-in-law Blake Jones, aunt Joan Barnes, special cousin Renee Flowers, and numerous other cousins.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM August 1, at Miller’s Lutheran. The Rev. Todd Cook will officiate. Memorials may be made to Miller’s Lutheran Church.
