Catherine A. Sherbert

March 25, 1945 — July 22, 2025

Catherine A. Sherbert, 80, of Lincolnton, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. She was born on March 25, 1945, in Hutchinson, Kansas.

A devoted Jehovah’s Witness, Catherine was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. She enjoyed trivia, crossword puzzles, and sharing her wisdom with those she loved.

Catherine is survived by her six children: Kim Sherbert and wife Lisa, Tony Sherbert and wife Teresa, Laurinda Woodruff and John Brooks, Scott Sherbert and wife Beverly, Angela Gonzalez and husband Rainer, and Cathy Jean Sherbert-Jenkins; her sister, Glenda Houdek and husband Verlin; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Gene Sherbert; her parents, Glenn and Irene Bowers; her brother, Michael James Bowers; and her sons-in-law, Josh Jenkins and Cecil Woodruff.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Celebration Center at Jenkins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carolina Caring or to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
