Bill Clark

Billy “Bill” Joe Clark, 67, of Connelly Springs, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026, at his home following a long and courageous health battle.

Bill was born April 17, 1959, in Cleveland County, North Carolina. He was a talented mechanic and the owner of multiple companies that he operated alongside his beloved wife of 36 years, Jeannie. Bill and Jeannie spent 36 wonderful years side by side, doing everything together and sharing a love that was truly special.

Bill was known for his loving and outgoing personality. He was strong-willed, determined, and never let obstacles stand in his way. Though he faced many challenges, Bill never considered himself handicapped—he proudly said he was “handiCAN.”

Bill loved hunting, fishing, and racing. He was a talented and creative man who could figure out how to make just about anything work. Even after losing his leg, he designed his own race car clutch so he could continue doing what he loved. He also designed his own electric tree stand, never allowing his circumstances to keep him from enjoying the outdoors and the things he was passionate about. His determination and ability to overcome challenges were an inspiration to those who knew him.

Bill was devoted to the Lord and cherished his family above all else. He especially loved spoiling his grandchildren and watching them grow. He was incredibly proud of his daughter, LeAnna, who was the apple of his eye. There was nothing better to Bill than his “baby girl.” LeAnna, a nurse, lovingly cared for her Daddy throughout his illness, and their bond was truly special.

Bill is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jeannie Clark of Connelly Springs; his daughter, LeAnna Rhinehart and husband Taylor of Conover; two grandsons, Parker and Charlie Rhinehart; his sister, Terrie Townsend of Connelly Springs; mother-in-law, Nancy Whisnant of Connelly Springs; sister-in-law, Becky Eller of Connelly Springs; and two very dear friends whom he considered brother Stacy Banner of Morganton and sister Dawn Carroll of Hudson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whom he held dear to his heart. Bill truly never met a stranger and leaves behind many people who will miss his friendship, kindness, laughter, and unforgettable personality.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jane Clark, and his son, Billy Lee Clark.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026, at Jenkins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658, with Pastor Tony Childers, officiating. Per his request he would love for everyone to wear Camo.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026, at Jenkins Funeral Home Celebration Center, 4081 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658.
