Hannah Margaret Gibson 93 of Newton died Tuesday, January 30th, 2018 at Brian Center East. Born September 5th, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Charles Ramseur and Sallie Shade Ramseur. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. She was a member of Rhoney's Chapel AME Zion Church where she was a member of the Stewardess Board. She and her husband John were owners of Gibson's Cafe in Newton. She worked at Catawba Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a homemaker who loved flowers. She was an avid sports fan who loved Dallas Cowboys and the UNC Tarheels.
Three daughters, Maxine Ramseur of the home, Betty Ramseur of the home; Margaret Gibson of Conover; a son, John Davis Gibson, ll and wife Karen of Newton; two grandchildren, Melissa Gibson of Hickory and George Gibson of Tampa, Florida; seven great grandchildren, J'la Gibson, Stedman Gibson, Porsha Gibson, Ebony Dillingham, Michael Gibson, Marquia Gibson and Christopher White; three great great grandchildren, Ava Propst, Keenan Gibson and D'Aire Miller; two cousins, Savannah Ramseur and Frances Peebles and a five special friends, Forrest Bonaparte, Dorothy May Foote, Linda McDowell, Stephanie Davis and Louise Lowery; a host of nieces and nephews survive her.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Brian Center Rehabilitation and Catawba Regional Hospice for their kindness and compassion.
Her husband, John Gibson, six sisters and seven brothers preceded her in death.
The funeral will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 3rd, 2018 at Rhoneys Chapel AME Zion Church with Rev. Emanuel Bonaparte officiating. Burial will follow at Rhoney's Chapel Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm Saturday, February 3rd, 2018 at Rhoneys Chapel AME Zion Church.
