Surrounded by loved ones, Barbara Jean Faires Hamby passed away peacefully at her home on October 6, 2017.
Ms Hamby was born June 8, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA to James Spratt Faires,MD and Ethel Francis Chitty Faires. She graduated in 1982 from Lenoir-Rhyne College with Bachelor of Arts degree. Thereafter, she worked for many years in the furniture industry. She was a dedicated member of Taylorsville Presbyterian Church.
In her youth, one of Barbara’s fondest memories was to enthusiastically participate in Equestrian Jumping winning many ribbons doing so. During her long illness, she will be fondly remembered by her loving family and all her caregivers for her positive attitude and vibrant personality. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and loving partner to her “Johnny”. She was a true inspiration and we will always love her “To the Moon and Back”.
Her father preceded her in death.
Ms Hamby is survived by: her life partner, John Charles Campbell, of the home, her daughter, Kathryn Genevieve Hamby (Justin), of Hickory, grandson, Skylar James Hamby, of Hickory, mother, Ethel Faires, of Paoli, PA, sister, Mary Jane Brown (Lenny), of Westchester, PA, and brother, James S Faires Jr.(Linda), of Cocoa, FLA.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Taylorsville Presbyterian Church, 279 Main Ave. Dr., Taylorsville, NC 28681, with the Pastor Paul Sink officiating.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Carolina Oncology, the Infusion Center at Catawba Valley Medical Center, and Catawba Regional Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care of Barbara during her illness.
